APPLICATION AREAS
EXTRIS systems have numerous applications for the automotive industry, both for electric vehicles and internal combustion engines.
Vehicles normally use many types of filters, such as:
and all of these have the task of holding back any impurities that might damage the mechanical parts.
These filters require the utmost precision in the mesh opening and stable performance over time independent of temperature variations. EXTRIS weaves open-mesh fabrics with high precison to fully meet and even exceed these specifications, as some of these filters require special performance features such as the osmotic separation of any water present in diesel.
To achieve these performance levels, EXTRIS uses its own Atmospheric Plasma system to change the surface energy of the fabrics.
EXTRIS has multiple fabrication technologies for the vast range of vehicle filters, including cold cutting, hot cutting or laser cutting, ultrasonic, hot or radiofrequency welding, and is capable of providing flat or tubular filters in accordance with the customer’s design.
Selecting the best materials for the filter is fundamental.
EXTRIS technical fabrics are normally made of PET, PA or PP.Applications on board the vehicle must take into account the typical technical characteristics of the three polymers:
OPERATING TEMPERATURE RANGE | WATER ABSORPTION | RESISTANCE TO ALKALIS | RESISTANCE TO ACIDS | RESISTANCE TO SOLVENTS | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
POLYESTER | -30°C ÷ 120°C | NONE | LOW | HIGH | LOW |
POLYAMIDE | -30°C ÷ 100°C | CONSIDERABLE | MEDIUM | LOW | LOW |
POLYPROPYLENE | -10°C ÷ 75°C | NONE | HIGH | HIGH | HIGH |
